La discriminación salarial en el deporte femenil

“No hay ninguna razón legítima o que se atenga a razones no discriminatorias que puedan explicar esta disparidad en los salarios, y tampoco se puede explicar por ningún factor del tipo de antigüedad, sistema de méritos o incentivos de buena fe, sino simple y llanamente por nuestro sexo” –(Ocaña 2022)

A lo largo de la historia, las mujeres mexicanas han atravesado una larga lucha para lograr una igualdad de género en todos los ámbitos y el salarial no es la excepción. De acuerdo con el índice de brechas de género globales, México ocupa el lugar número 52, encontrándose en el último lugar de América Latina en materia de igualdad de género. 

El Instituto Mexicano para la Competitividad en conjunto del Consejo Coordinador Empresarial y el Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales midieron la magnitud de la brecha de ingresos entre mujeres y hombres encontrando una diferencia del 14% es decir que “por cada 100 pesos que recibe un hombre en promedio por su trabajo al mes, una mujer recibe 86 pesos”, siendo los estados con mayor brecha de ingreso Oaxaca, Colima e Hidalgo con una diferencia del 27.1%, 25.3% y 24.9% menos en comparación con los hombres. 

A pesar de que con el transcurso de los años vemos que esta brecha salarial va disminuyendo, es una lucha que sigue hasta no ver un salario igual para trabajo igual sin importar el género, color de piel, religión u opinión política y quienes lo tienen claro son las mujeres deportistas que día con día  buscan la reivindicación salarial, pues el deporte es un sector  que ha hecho mucho ruido respecto a esta situación debido a las  semejantes diferencias monetarias en los salarios, patrocinios y premios. 

En el 2022 se hizo un listado de los cien deportistas con mayor ingreso alrededor del mundo de los cuales solo figuran 2 mujeres: la tenista japones Naomi Osaka con ganancias de 53.2 millones de dólares y la tenista estadounidense Serena Williams con 35.3 millones de dólares, ambas considerando premios y patrocinios. 

¿Y la brecha salarial en el deporte mexicano? 

En la actualidad, los deportistas mejor pagados es Nicolas Castillo (jugador del américa) y André Pierre (jugador del tigres), ambos con 4.8 millones de dólares anuales, por otro lado, Nayeli Rangel (jugadora del Tigres) y Mónica Ocampo (jugadora del Pachuca), fueron las deportistas mejor pagadas con una cantidad que asciende a los 18,736.83 dólares anuales, es decir, $350,000.00 pesos mexicanos. 

 

Uno de los factores que más influyen es la falta de apoyo tanto en la televisión como en la radio en el deporte femenil, esto hace que los patrocinadores busquen trabajar con el género masculino debido al mayor número de audiencia que manejan. 

¿Cómo erradicar este problema? 

El deporte femenino toma más fuerza con el transcurso de los años y se podría decir que hoy en día está en pleno auge. Las mujeres debemos seguir luchando por llegar a una igualdad de género en todos los aspectos, incluso en el salarial, pues es inconcebible ver que hoy en día una mujer obtiene una remuneración menor que un hombre cuando el trabajo que se realiza es exactamente igual, incluso con resultados iguales o mejores. 

Si algo hemos notado es que la unión y la fuerza hacen la diferencia, y las mujeres debemos seguir levantando la voz hasta llegar a eliminar la diferencia entre la brecha salarial, así como lo hizo el equipo de fútbol femenil de Estados Unidos de América. En el 2015, las capitanas de dicho equipo junto con otras jugadoras, mismas catalogadas como las mejores de la selección femenina del fútbol de su país, denunciaron ante la Federación Nacional de Fútbol de su país la desigualdad en las ganancias monetarias en comparación de la selección varonil, pues había una diferencia menor del 40% cuando ellas habían tenido mejores resultados que el equipo masculino, a la fecha habían sido ganadoras de 3 mundiales y 4 torneos olímpicos, fue en el 2022, en donde las mujeres obtuvieron la victoria al firmar convenios colectivos con la Federación donde se establece que jugadoras y jugadores cobren el mismo tanto por participar en cualquier tipo de partido como por derechos televisivos, patrocinios o venta de entradas. 

Después de esta gran victoria que obtuvieron estas mujeres, la UNESCO ha propuesto varias maneras de combatir este problema: 

  1. pues la cobertura televisiva de las mujeres en los deportes es distorsionada o nula, es decir, mientras a un hombre lo muestras como poderoso o dominante, a una mujer la pueden mostrar como débil por ser madre de familia. 
  2. aunque con el paso de los años la radiodifusión ha sido más accesible para las mujeres, sigue habiendo una brecha notable, por lo que éstas empresas deben tener un mayor interés por la contratación de mujeres para el periodismo deportivo y así el área de difusión deportiva deje de ser dominada por el género masculino.
  3. pues aún hay un desequilibrio grande de la cobertura de las mujeres deportistas en comparación con la de los hombres, pues estadísticas han demostrado que en eventos deportivos, alrededor del 40% de los participantes son mujeres y reciben tan solo el 4% de la cobertura de los medios de comunicación deportiva. 
  4. para que así las mujeres puedan participar en sectores y ocupar puestos que tengan una mayor remuneración, como lo es el fútbol o basquetbol.
  5. con criterios establecidos para la remuneración en cada puesto de trabajo, así como para los incrementos salariales.
